Why Your Wedding Budget Isn’t Really a “Number”
One of the first questions I ask my couples during the wedding planning process is, “What do you want your wedding to feel like?” Not, “What is your budget?”

Of course, your budget matters. A lot! Don’t get me wrong there! How much you’re able to spend will impact the look and logistics of the day. However, after years of luxury wedding planning in Toronto and Vaughan, I’ve learned that a wedding budget is never just a number. It’s really a reflection of your priorities, your guest experience, and the kind of celebration you want to create. Two couples could have the exact same $170,000 budget and end up with completely different weddings, and both can be beautiful.
Why? Because luxury looks different for everyone! For one couple, an exceptional culinary experience might be the priority. For another, it could be breathtaking floral design, incredible photography, live entertainment, or transforming the venue into something that feels completely custom. Some couples want an intimate, highly personalized wedding with 80 guests. Others envision a spectacular celebration with 250 of their favourite people. This is why I always encourage my couples to think beyond the dollar amount and start with what matters most to you.
HOW DO YOU WANT TO FEEL?
For a 2027 wedding or 2028 wedding, I want you to ask yourself: What do we want our guests to remember? What elements would make us look around the room and think, this feels so us? Where are we willing to splurge, and where are we perfectly happy to simplify?
This is where thoughtful luxury wedding planning makes a difference.
A good planner isn’t simply trying to spend your budget! We’re looking at the entire picture (your vision, guest count, venue, priorities, logistics and overall experience) and helping you allocate your investment intentionally. It should be said that spending more doesn’t automatically create a more luxurious wedding. In fact, some of the most memorable celebrations I’ve planned have been the ones where every detail chosen had a purpose and felt personal. The design was cohesive. The timeline flowed beautifully. The food was exceptional. The guests felt genuinely cared for. And most importantly, the wedding felt authentic to the couple.
That, to me, is what makes a wedding truly luxurious.
