A Multicultural Wedding at the Liberty Grand | Cathy and Steven

Weddings

There are some weddings that stay with us long after the last dance, and Cathy and Steve’s celebration at the Liberty Grand is one I’ll be talking about for years. From the moment I met them, it was clear that bringing their two cultures together wasn’t just a detail in their planning process; it was the heart of their story. Every choice they made was rooted in honouring their families, their traditions, and the beautiful life they’re building as one.

Month-of Planning & Coordination Services: Cathy was very hands on in the whole process and had a lot of details planned out when she came to me for coordination. Classy Affairs was in charge of executing for the ceremony and reception so that the newlyweds could enjoy their day they’d spent hours planning stress-free!

A Multicultural Wedding Celebration of Heritage and Love

Their day began with a deeply meaningful ceremony at a Greek Orthodox Church. If you’ve ever attended one, you know how rich the symbolism is with crowns, blessings and rituals passed down through generations. For Steve, these traditions hold a special place. Watching him take part in something so sacred to his upbringing added an emotional layer to the entire day. Cathy embraced every moment with such genuine warmth. It was clear that both families felt incredibly proud witnessing this union grounded in respect and love.

Then came the reception at Liberty Grand! They wanted an elegant, vibrant, and full of energy night. While the ceremony honoured Steve’s roots, the reception nodded to Cathy’s heritage in the most spectacular way. As guests mingled and enjoyed the atmosphere, the sound of drums suddenly filled the room signalling the arrival of the Lion Dancers. This traditional performance symbolizes good luck, happiness, and prosperity, and the excitement it brought to the space was electric. Guests were cheering, cameras were flashing, and you could feel the joy radiating from Cathy and Steve.

What I loved most was how seamlessly the day blended both worlds. Nothing felt out of place or forced; instead, every cultural touchpoint complemented the next, creating a wedding experience that was deeply personal and wonderfully inclusive. Cathy and Steve gave their guests more than a beautiful event. They offered them a glimpse into who they are as individuals and who they are together.

At Classy Affairs, I’m always honoured to help couples express their stories through thoughtful design and meaningful moments, and Cathy and Steve’s wedding was a perfect reminder of why we do what we do. Celebrations like this don’t just reflect a couple’s vision, they reflect their hearts. And this one was full of love, heritage, and unforgettable joy.

I love planning weddings which honour culture and heritage
