Outdoor Wedding in Toronto | Rebecca & Matthew
In the heart of summer in Caledon, Classy Affairs played a part in Rebecca and Matthew becoming husband and wife.
After months of having to readjust our plans due to the pandemic, Rebecca and Matthew came together in a gorgeous outdoor wedding in Toronto.
Choosing the Location for a Tented Wedding
When these two first invested in Classy Affairs, they had planned an Italian wedding in a traditional wedding hall. And as an Italian-Canadian myself, I was thrilled to be a part of their day!
But, of course, the pandemic had other plans we had to face. Rebecca and Matthew decided they’d rather have a romantic, intimate wedding surrounded by their family and friends.
Thankfully, their friends offered a beautiful private residence to host their wedding. So, rather than the traditional wedding hall venue, I helped them plan a gorgeous outdoor tented wedding instead.
Overcoming Wedding Day Challenges for an Outdoor Wedding in Toronto
Outdoor weddings come with their own sets of challenges. And an outdoor tented wedding? Well, that often is a job in its own category.
But Rebecca and Matthew trusted my team and me to plan the wedding they were dreaming of. And despite the challenges, we pulled it together!
Planning a Pandemic Wedding
After changing the ideal vision to an outdoor tented wedding, I helped Rebecca pick out all of the vendors to make sure her dreams became a reality. I walked her through each decision for her big day, including all of the essentials of a tented wedding, rentals, catering, floral design, and photography.
Outdoor tented weddings in Toronto are often challenging to execute. So I made sure they were in the absolute best hands with top-notch vendors!
Handling Inclement Weather for an Outdoor Wedding in Toronto
The morning of Rebecca and Matthew’s wedding day was absolute perfection. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and everything was going according to plan!
But, one thing to keep in mind is an outdoor wedding in Toronto means we were exposed to the elements.
As the afternoon approached, the weather notifications started coming in. We were potentially facing severe thunderstorms. I was in full wedding planner mode as I spoke with Rebecca and Matthew about our options. We made the decision to go ahead with the ceremony, and thank goodness the rain held off!
Literally, as they were kissing for the first time as a married couple, the first few drops started to fall. My team and I ushered the guests under the tent for cocktail hour before anyone was rained on!
And Rebecca and Matthew were able to capture some amazing photos in the rain since I brought my clear umbrellas, just in case.
The Best Moment of Rebecca and Matthew’s Private Residence Wedding
I absolutely love creating outdoor tented weddings because my team and I get to be so hands-on from the ground up. There’s not a set venue already built for these kinds of weddings. So, we have to set everything up by hand!
My team and I were there early in the morning to oversee the tent transformation. Then, we got to work setting the tables, linens, plates, cutlery, and glassware. We truly saw the space transform from an empty field to a gorgeous ceremony and reception site worthy of Rebecca and Matthew’s love story!
Having the two of them walk in for the first time and comment on how beautiful everything turned out, and how it was even better than they ever imagined, was truly the icing on the cake.
