A Wedding Planner’s Wedding | Toronto, Canada
So, you’ve been wondering what a wedding planner’s wedding might look like? I’m excited to share with you a look into an actual wedding planner’s wedding in Toronto, Canada.
Most girls dream of their special day and what all the little details will be. When I was in high school I made a binder of cut outs from wedding magazines that included my favourite flowers, décor, most popular love songs, etc and I could not wait until I was engaged to start planning one of the best days of my life! Fast forward to when I am in my late twenties, a certified wedding planner and finally engaged – woo hoo! I was so excited to plan my day. I had helped my sisters, friends and clients plan theirs and now it was my turn! Being a wedding planner, planning all the details became magnified but I am going to share with you my top three aspects – this is going to be very hard as there are so many things I loved.
The Venue
As we started planning, we knew the most important aspect for us was the venue. We knew we were going to have a medium sized wedding (approximately 200-250 guests) and food had to be fantastic. After extensive research, we narrowed it down to three venues. After viewing them we knew, The Grand Luxe Event Boutique fit us the best. We loved the interior of the venue (very modern with white walls), we wouldn’t be sharing it with any other couple and it was located in mid-town Toronto. The food, well that was what put the entire experience over the top, it was AMAZING. The food was delicious and fit our both our cultures (Italian & Greek). The staff was top notch always responsive to my numerous emails and wanted it to be wonderful too. This is why the venue easily became my number one aspect.
From the save the date to the invitation and our day of stationary, we were thankful to have found So Pretty in Print. Tina was always so accommodating to my ideas and nothing was impossible. The quality was superior and it really gave our guests a preview of what was to come. We sent out our save the dates 12 months prior to our wedding, with our invitation to follow 4 months prior. All items given to us before we needed them so we weren’t scrambling to put it together last minute. On the day of, she created beautiful individual menus, a kissing game and the wrappers for our chocolate bars. Tina matched everything perfectly which is why this would be my number two aspect.
A Performance to Remember at a Wedding Planner’s Wedding
The entertainment during dinner gave our guests an experience to remember. We had an aerialist from A2D2 perform before our speech. It is safe to say our guests were shocked and amazed by the performance. The song they picked was perfect and the aerialist even matched our colour scheme. We have had guests mention this to us after the wedding numerous times. We felt choosing this type of performance would be one of a kind and it surely was! The outstanding performance that we watch over and over is why A2D2 would be my number three aspect.
Once the wedding day came, I will be honest, not everything went according to my “plan”. No matter how much time and effort I had put into the details, things not under my control occurred. I was heartbroken and disappointed but at the end of the day I had to remember the purpose – I was marrying my best friend and we were celebrating with our family and friends – that is what mattered. It was still a wonderful day that we cherish every year by watching our wedding video. All my visions from a little girl came to life that day, I married my prince charming and we are living happily, ever after. Even in my profession, a wedding planner’s wedding in Toronto, Canada comes true.
